Protecting your pet from preventable diseases is one of the simplest and most effective ways to ensure a long, healthy life.
Vaccinations are the primary line of defense against a variety of serious, and sometimes fatal, diseases. At Barkfield Animal Hospital, we don’t believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach to medicine. While some vaccines are considered "core" and essential for all pets, others are "lifestyle" vaccines recommended based on your pet’s specific habits—whether they frequent the dog park, go hiking, or stay strictly indoors.
By staying current on immunizations, you aren’t just protecting your own pet; you are helping to maintain "herd immunity" within our Cumming community. Our team stays up-to-date with the latest veterinary immunology to provide the safest, most effective vaccine protocols available today.

Essential for all pets. Includes Rabies and Distemper/Parvo (DHPP) for dogs, and Rabies and FVRCP for cats.
Recommended based on risk. These include Bordetella (Kennel Cough), Leptospirosis, and Canine Influenza for social pets
We prioritize your pet's safety, using high-quality vaccines and monitoring for any rare adverse reactions to ensure a stress-free experience.

Most pets experience no side effects. Some may be a little sleepy or have mild soreness at the injection site for 24 hours. If you notice swelling or difficulty breathing, contact us immediately.
Even indoor pets can be exposed to diseases through open windows, visitors' shoes, or accidental escapes. Additionally, Rabies vaccination is required by Georgia law for all domestic pets.
This depends on the specific vaccine. Some are required annually, while others provide protection for three years. We will provide a custom schedule during your visit.treatment plan tailored to your pet's needs.
